What is an E-Challan
An e-challan is a digital traffic violation ticket issued through Karachi’s Safe City surveillance cameras. Introduced in 2025, the system uses automatic number plate recognition and real-time monitoring to record offences and link them directly to the registered vehicle and CNIC.
How Karachi’s E-Challan System Works
The system works through automated surveillance:
Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) detects vehicles
Cameras record the offence with date, time, and location
The system checks the official Sindh vehicle database
A challan is issued against the CNIC or vehicle number
